I have been trying to write a pice on how to become successful for sometime now and last week I was lucky enough to meet up with my old friend Edgar Gonzalez Anaheim-based businessman who knows just what it takes to succeed. We met at a restaurant and I must tell you what happened before we ate, the perfect ice breaker. The restaurant manager approached Edgar and asked him to sign his autograph, which he did. I was completely bemused by this and asked my buddy what it was all about. He proceeded to tell me that he is regularly mistaken for the ex-second baseman for the San Diego Padres, who goes by the same name, he told me that he has learned it is easier to play along than to have an embarrassing conversation. Edgar may not be an ex-baseball pro, but he in my view he has the greatest business mind in Santa Ana, and here are his tips on finding success.
Being Kind
Edgar believes that one of his greatest qualities and the reason why he has found so much success is because he is kind to everyone that he deals with. Of course there are times when he must be stern and forthright, but he tells me that he will always do this in a respectful manner. There is an old saying that you should be nice to the people on the way up, because they will be the ones to take revenge when you fall back down. This is something that Edgar has always lived by.
Tenacity
Success never comes easily and you must fight tooth and nail to be able to get it. Tenacity is a key strength in anyone who is looking for success, in any field. If you have passion and commitment to reach your goals, whatever they may be, then you must be tenacious enough to go after them and not let anyone hold you back. There will be ups and downs and whilst the ups are easy to deal with, it is during the down moments that this tenacity will need to kick in.
Risk Taking
There is a great difference between risk taking and recklessness and anyone in the hunt for success must know the difference. Calculated risk taking is something which everyone should do from time to time, with an opportunity which promises a big win if it comes off. Recklessness however is a risk without care or thought, which could end up doing a great deal of damage in your hunt for success.
Visualizing
Edgar’s commitment to his success is incredible and he tells me that each night before he goes to sleep, he spends 5 minutes visualizing his success, what it looks like and where he fits into it. When you visualize something like this, it becomes more real and it drives you on to go and work hard, and find the success that you are looking for.
Follow Edgar’s tips and you too could find the success which you have been looking for.
