Whether you have a large walk-in closet or a small closet that barely holds everything you need it to, there are always things that you can do to make the most of the space that you have available.
To help you see how this can be done, here are three tips for maximizing space in your closet.
Use Hooks On Empty Wall Space
In most closets, there are rods for hanging clothes and some shelves for folded clothes. However, most closets don’t have hooks or other handing options for items that won’t easily fit on hangers onto traditional rods. Items like scarfs, hats, bags, and other hangable items that aren’t hanging up can take up a lot of space.
One way to put these things away in your closet so that they’re not taking up too much space is to place hooks on any empty wall space you have. You can install hooks that stay permanently on your walls or hooks that can easily be taken down and moved if necessary. But by having hooks or even hanging pocket organizers to store things that won’t easily fit on a shelf or a hanger, you can make better use of the space that you do have.
Bring In Additional Garment Racks
In some closets, the hanging space that you have on your rods simply isn’t enough. So rather than having to fold up items that you’d rather have hanging, you should find a way to bring in some added hanging storage.
In some instances, you may be able to put another hanging rod in, either on a different wall or underneath some of the rods that you’re already using. But another option is to bring in a garment rack that you can store within your closet. Or, if you don’t have space within your closet, you can always keep a full garment rack just outside of your closet or somewhere else in the house that you do have space.
Make Use Of Your Doors
The door or doors of your closet can also be used to help you find more storage space.
If the doors to your closet are traditional doors that you can open and close, you may want to find some kind of hanging storage option that you can place either on the inside or on the outside. This way, you can have specific areas to keep some of your items. Things like shoes, jewelry, and other accessories can easily be stored in these kinds of areas without taking up too much space.
If you want to maximize the space in your closet, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you learn how this can be accomplished regardless of the current size of your closet at home.
